The creative industries are established at the intersection of business and culture, the point where
artistic/cultural ambitions meet economic realisation. This sphere comprises the development of ideas, their actual
realisation and distribution. The economic significance of the creative industries has risen steeply in recent years.
All European countries are aware of their important contribution to value creation and employment. Even traditional
sectors, such as manufacturing or tourism, can benefit from the use of creative services, such as they are provided by

Kunstbericht (Federal Art Report)
The Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (BMUKK) publishes an annual Federal Art Report which

Kulturstatistik (Cultural statistics)
Statistik Austria summarises the main results of data collections and surveys about Austria’s cultural life in
the Kulturstatistik (cultural
statistics). The data include theatres and festivals, music schools, the mass media and a multifarious
range of cultural activities.
EuroStat
