READING – Events for children and young people

Initiative Lesen foerdern!
Under the umbrella of its reading initiative Lesen foerdern! (Promote reading!) the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture (bmukk) provides numerous measures and activities for sustainable quality development. Lesen foerdern! aims at motivating pupils to read and improving their reading skills, providing effective support to poor readers and developing a comprehensive, nurturing reading environment in schools.
The general concept of the Lesen foerdern! initiative and up-to-date information are available on the Internet platform www.klassezukunft.at.
The LESEFIT. Lesen koennen heißt lernen koennen (FIT FOR READING. Being able to read means being able to learn) initiative organised in co-operation with the Oesterreichischer Buchklub der Jugend is continued (e.g. publication of remedial teaching aids, learning incentives, brochures for school beginners, the Leseturm project). Information on LESEFIT is available at www.lesefit.at.
